10 Ways to Strengthen Hair Naturally?
How to strengthen hair naturally? What is the best way to maintain healthy hair? Here are 10 tips to get you started.

Haircare is an important part of looking good and feeling good, both inside and out. There is an endless number of hair care products that promise to shape up, curl, straighten, moisturize, and rejuvenate, but what is the best way to strengthen hair naturally?
Most of us have to deal with some sort of hair issue that stands in the way of a healthy head of locks.
10 Tips to Strengthen Hair Naturally
- Turn down the heat
- Avoid sun
- Eliminate dandruff
- Use less shampoo
- Brush hair the right way
- Styling hair techniques
- Try oil treatment
- Eat more protein
- Massage your scalp
- Trim split ends
In this article, I want to take a quick look at 10 ways to help strengthen your hair, boost hair growth, and enhance the look, feel, and health of your hair.
TIP 1: TURN DOWN THE HEAT
Use a low to medium heat on your hairdryer. Too much heat can dry out the hair, cause the frizzies, and instigate hair loss.
To limit damage from a hair drier, try to hold it 6 inches away from your hair, and keep the dryer moving.
Use heat-protectant products on your hair to minimize damage.
TIP 2: AVOID SUN
Wear a sun hut to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, which is not only bad for your skin, but can dry out your hair as well.
TIP 3: ELIMINATE DANDRUFF
Many people suffer from dandruff. If you are one of the many, avoid scratching or rubbing the head as this will promote flaking. Instead, use a shampoo and/or conditioner that is specially designed to treat dandruff and eliminate flaking.
TIP 4: USE LESS SHAMPOO
Keeping your hair clean is important. But most shampoos use ingredients that strip away your hair’s natural oils.

Unless your hair is extremely oily, you can probably cut back to washing two to three times a week instead of every day.
If you have thin hair, add a volumizing shampoo for added body. If you have thick hair, using a healthy shine shampoo will bring out the additional beauty.
Avoid harsh hair care products, which can dry out or damage the hair. You may even experience hair loss in using certain at-home perm and/or coloring treatment products, like hair bleaching. It’s better if you do this type of treatment at the salon.
TIP 5: HAIR BRUSHING
When brushing your hair, use soft strokes rather than those swiped in a hurry. A part of quality hair care is, just as the name implies, caring for your hair.
Make sure you are brushing your hair the right way. This is the time most of you see or notice most of your hair shedding happening. Because your hairbrush is just full of strands of hair.
Make sure you are not over-brushing.
Over-brushing creates a lot of friction and pulling, making your hair fall out more.
When you brush your hair, use the right type of hairbrush.
A wide tooth combs a lot gentler on your hair.
TIP 6: HAIRSTYLING
When using styling products, make sure that they do not overheat before using them on your hair.
Try to keep your hair styling to a minimum. Extreme heat can and will damage the hair, not to mention the discomfort of a burn resulting from an overheated styling product.
If you want to wear a ponytail, opt for a low, loose ponytail instead of a high tight one.
For elastics and hair accessories use fabric scrunchy which is much gentler on the hair. No bobby pins or accessories with the metal where your hair can get caught and tangled in it.

TIP 7: DIY HOT OIL HAIR TREATMENT
Hot oil treatments are a popular choice for helping to restore moisture to dry, frizzy, or damaged hair.
For example, Coconut or Castor oil has the ability to reduce protein loss in both damaged and undamaged hair.
CASTOR OIL contains Ricinoleic acid (Omega-9 fatty acid) that can penetrate the pores of the skin and the hair follicles. It provides nourishment and moisture to the hair follicles and promotes better hair growth.
COCONUT OIL is often said to be the best oil to use on your hair to reduce protein loss and keep it looking healthy.
3 Popular COCONUT OILS, According to Reviews and Rating:
- PURA D’OR Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil (16oz/473ml) USDA Certified 100% Pure & Natural MCT Oil for Face, Skin & Hair.
- PURA D’OR Organic Castor Oil (4oz) 100% Pure Natural USDA Organic: Conceal Thin, reveal Fuller Eyebrows, Thicker Eyelashes, Hair Growth: Cold Pressed Hexane Free-Moisturize Dry Skin w/Bonus Brush Kit
- OKAY | 100% Pure Coconut Oil | For All Hair Textures & Skin Type | Excellent Source of Vitamin E | All Natural | 6 Oz
To make your own DIY hot oil treatment, follow these steps:
STEP 1: Mix 1-2 tbsp. virgin coconut oil (room temperature) and 1-2 tbsp. castor oil. You can use more or less, depending on how long your hair is, but keep the ratio of both oils roughly equal.
STER 2: Put the mixture in a glass jar (mason jar), and gently lower it into a pot of hot water.
STEP 3: Allow the oil to melt together and warm inside the jar for about 2 minutes. You don’t want the oil to be too hot, just slightly warm and well-mixed.
STEP 4: Test the temperature on the back of your wrist. It should be lukewarm, not hot. If the oil appears to be hot, don’t risk touching it. Wait until it’s cooled.
STEP 5: Once the oil mixture is at a safe temperature, apply it to your scalp, roots of your hair, and ends. Work the oil into the rest of your hair.
STEP 6: Apply a shower cap and allow the oil to penetrate your hair for 20 minutes.
STEP 7: Rinse well with lukewarm water.
TIP 8: EAT MORE PROTEIN
Make sure you maintain a healthy balanced diet-friendly to your hair. That means lots of vitamins and protein.
A Few Major Key Players Here
- Zinc
- Iron
- B 12

Make sure you are stoking your fridge with fish, leafy greens, nuts, and things like that, and you should be good to go.
This is probably the biggest.
Animal proteins carry a lot of B12 and Iron. If you are vegan or vegetarian make sure you are gating those nutrients from other sources.
Make sure you are always hydrated. Staying hydration is super important for long, thick hair.
What Should You Eat to Boost Hair Health and Strengthen Hair?
- egg yolk
- lean meats
- wheat germ and whole grains
- beans, nuts, and legumes
- white mushrooms
- spinach and kale
- cheese, curds, and cow’s milk
- salmon
- apples, bananas, and tomatoes
- carrots, lettuce, and potatoes
TIP 9: MASSAGE YOUR SCALP
Scalp massage increases blood circulation in your scalp and helps boost the health and condition of your scalp, and also increases blood flow to the hair follicles and prevents hair loss.

You can massage your own scalp by applying pressure in circular motions with fingertips for several minutes. You can do this on dry hair or add natural oils or hair serum to multiply the benefits.
You can also buy a scalp massager. These handhelds, brush-like devices work to stimulate your scalp.
TIP 10: TEAM SPLIT ENDS
If you notice split ends, have them trimmed. This will result in healthier hair and a better overall appearance. A trim is relatively inexpensive and should only take a matter of minutes at the local salon.
While minimizing heat damage and washing hair less will help to strengthen your hair, what you put in your body counts too. Eating a balanced diet that includes a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, and sources of protein can help boost the health of your hair and scalp.
