My name is Irina, and I am a lifestyle blogger, Pinterest manager, and retail store manager. I live with my two beautiful grown-up daughters, and our beloved chihuahua, Rocky, in the Greater Toronto Area (Mississauga), Canada.

Why I started Modern Fifty TV – my story
Hi, I am Irina Nikitina, 50-something years old, I live in Canada (Toronto area).
I’m just a regular person, who decided to take control and create the life I wanted for myself and my family.
Join me on a journey!
My daughters grew up into 2 smart, self-sufficient women and suddenly I had little time for myself. And I found myself looking around, asking “What now?”.
I started several different side hustles over the years in hopes of making enough money to quit my job. But none of them worked out and I started to feel very frustrated. All I wanted to do was to make enough money to justify quitting my job!
I would spend hours every night on Google and Pinterest looking for work-from-home opportunities and ways to build an online business. To be honest, I had no idea at the time, whom am I kidding even now, what I want.
How Modern Fifty TV began
The first blog I created is in the Russian language about Pinterest marketing. I had more than 100,000 visitors a day to irinabrilliant.com (now the site is closed). However, I found it hard to monetize.
And that is why I decided to create a lifestyle modernfifty.tv blog in 2019 to discuss the many topics that modern women over 50 struggle with on daily basis, such as skincare, makeup, money, work, and retirement planning. And with the hope to inspire and motivate you to join my journey of self-discovery and maximizing our potential as midlife women.
I’m not talking about massive action here but sometimes just making one small step towards improving your life, your home, and your surroundings, your self-image makes all the difference in the world.

- I work full-time in a beauty store “The Body Shop”. Yes, I sell skincare products for a living. The best part of my job is I get to meet and help people with their skincare on a personalized level.
- I immigrated to Canada in 1993 at the age of 26, with my late husband and oldest daughter.
- I was born and raised in Novosibirsk – Russia.
