I have lost confidence in my looks and myself

I Have Lost Confidence in My Looks.

Today I Will Be Confident

“I have lost confidence in my looks and myself. I try to put makeup on and fix my hair before going out, but since I’ve gone older, I can see all my wrinkles.

Creams don’t work on me.

I have age spots, a thick waist, and a flat bottom.

My neck is sagging and my double chin appears.

I can’t afford beauty treatments like fillers and BOTOX.”

Does it sound familiar?

I feel the same way sometimes. I have always ‘cleaned up good’, but now it seems like no matter what I do, I don’t like the way I look.

Oh, the words we tell ourselves.

You can tell yourself “Today I will be confident”, but it doesn’t last. I believe it becomes an addiction.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS …

  • I am growing old and putting on concealer to hide my age spots. I call my wrinkles my storylines.
  • You have many years ahead of you to feel good or bad. I hope you choose happiness.
  • We can’t get our youth back, but we can embrace the aging journey with the attitude.
  • When we look in the mirror, we are focused on everything we don’t like but nobody else sees your imperfections but you, we all have them.
  • Don’t focus on how you look.
  • We all have wrinkles etc. as we age. Look after your skin and dress in what makes you feel comfy and fabulous. Focus on enjoying life and the people you are around.

Someone once told me: “The sexiest curve on a woman’s body is her smile!
Now I believe it!
A lovely smile and a bit of sass work wonders, and nobody sees anything else.

WE’RE ONLY LIVING ONCE

  • Concentrate on 10 things you like about yourself. The one that is not based on the word view of feminine beauty!
  • Make your own happiness! Take classes, do crafts you always wanted to do, and keep busy.
  • Watch funny movies, it will change your outlook. I like “Green Glove Gang” on NETFLIX.
  • Go to events & gatherings expecting them to be fabulous, even if lately you’ve preferred to be alone.
  • Go to a gathering (especially with family) expecting the best from people. Sometimes we bring about what we think about.
  • Don’t RSVP so you’re overbooked but don’t say NO to everything either. Being with people is a very good thing, especially after the last 2 years we’ve been through. It’s time to get out again!
  • Put on a little lipstick & a little rouge” and wear something that makes you feel amazing. My go-to color to wear is blue! Even if I don’t know a soul at a function, I feel confident in this color.

Do not buy into what society says women must look like to be acceptable. You are beautiful and unique.

Do not hide your light!

And I want to leave you with a little story.

I was 58 years old when I needed a new dress for an important event, so I went shopping at my favorite department store. I tried on six dresses… and nothing fit right on my “new” body. I cried, left everything in the dressing room, and cried all the way to my car.
On my way home, I dried my tears and decided to stop by my mom’s nursing home. I walked through the front door, and three ladies in their 90’s all said, “Oh you look so pretty today!”
These women could no longer walk, do their own hair, put on makeup, or run to the store on a whim, yet they were happy in their own skin.

My attitude turned 180 in a matter of seconds.
I now love my aging and delight in the youthfulness of others.

I’ll never be 37 again, but I LOVE this time of life! Embrace it with me! – Debbie
